Support / Chrome extension
Brackits for Thinkific.
Pick a design from inside the Thinkific Site Builder and let the extension fill the section's fields for you. You still press Save.
What it is
A paste assistant, not an automation.
Thinkific has no API that can write page content, so an SEO snapshot has to be pasted by hand — four fields, in the right order, with the Source control set correctly first. Miss that last step and Thinkific discards your paste without saying so.
The extension does exactly that sequence and nothing else.
Scope
- Write-only, one section at a time
- Only the four fields our own section defines
- Never clicks Save — you review first
- Never touches Thinkific's own settings
- No analytics, no remote code, no third-party requests
Setup
Install and sign in.
Private beta
The extension is distributed to beta members directly rather than through the Chrome Web Store. Ask us for the install link and we'll send it with setup instructions for your account.
01
Add it to Chrome.
Follow the install link we send you. Chrome will show the permissions it requests before you confirm.
Requires Chrome 116 or later.
02
Open your Site Builder.
Go to your Thinkific school and open a page in the Site Builder. The Brackits icon in your toolbar becomes active there — it stays greyed out everywhere else.
03
Sign in.
Click the icon and sign in. A normal Brackits sign-in opens in a browser window; the extension never sees your password and only receives permission to list and install your designs.
04
Pick a design.
The picker opens over the Site Builder. Choose a design and the extension sets the section's Source to inline, fills all four fields, and tells you where it landed.
Press Save yourself once you're happy.
Behaviour worth knowing
What it does when.
No section selected
It adds a Brackits section for you first and says so. The section lands at the end of the page — Thinkific gives no control over placement, so drag it where you want it before saving.
A field looks wrong
Filling is all-or-nothing. If any of the four controls is missing or doesn't look right, the extension writes nothing and offers per-field copy buttons instead. A half-filled section looks like it worked and then renders broken.
Styling stays separate
The picker renders in a closed shadow root, so Thinkific's stylesheet can't reach it and its styles can't leak into the editor.
Permissions
Why it asks for what it asks for.
Access to thinkific.com
The picker has to run inside the Site Builder page to read and fill the section's fields. Its content script is limited to Site Builder URLs, which is why the toolbar icon is inactive on every other Thinkific page.
Access to usebrackits.com
To list your designs and fetch the snapshot for the one you pick.
Identity and storage
Identity opens the sign-in window. Storage keeps your session token locally in the browser so you don't sign in on every page. Nothing else is stored.
Troubleshooting
When something looks wrong.
The toolbar icon is greyed out.
You're not on a Site Builder page. Open your school's Website section and edit a page — the icon activates there.
It offered copy buttons instead of filling the fields.
It couldn't confidently identify all four controls, so it refused to write a partial result. Make sure a Brackits section is selected — not another section type — and try again. If it keeps happening, tell us: it usually means Thinkific changed the Site Builder and we need to update the extension.
My design list is empty.
The picker lists designs that have been published in Brackits. Publish one and reopen the picker.
It filled the fields but the page still shows the old content.
The extension deliberately doesn't press Save. Press Save in the Site Builder to commit the change.
Do I still need the extension?
No — it's a convenience. Everything it does you can do by hand from the Thinkific guide. It just removes the step people most often get wrong.
