Questions
Before you move.
How do I move my posts from DropInBlog?
From the blog's Import page, choose DropInBlog and paste your blog id and public key. They are the same pair DropInBlog puts in the embed code already on your site, so you do not need to find anything new. Brackits then reads the blog through their v2 API and imports it one post at a time, showing you the result for each.
Will the links I have already shared break?
No. DropInBlog addresses a post with ?p= on your own page, and a Brackits blog
reads that form too. A link in an old newsletter or on someone else's site still opens the
right post.
What does not come across?
Comments are not imported. Everything else that makes up a post does: the title, slug, excerpt, body, cover image and its alt text, the SEO title and description, the author, the categories, and the publication date, including posts that are scheduled rather than live.
What happens to my images when I cancel DropInBlog?
Nothing. Every image inside an imported post is copied into your own Brackits asset library and the post is rewritten to point at your copy, so the pictures do not depend on the old subscription staying open.
Do posts go live the moment I import them?
No. Imported posts arrive as drafts, with their original dates kept. You can read through the whole blog in Brackits and publish when you are happy, rather than discovering a formatting problem in front of your readers.
Can search engines read the blog?
On WordPress the plugin renders posts into the page as real HTML. Everywhere else the blog renders in the reader's browser, and every post also has a share URL that a crawler reads without running JavaScript, plus an RSS feed, per-category feeds and a sitemap.
Can I get my blog out again if I leave?
Yes. The whole blog exports as a single JSON file from the same Import and export page, any time, without asking us first.
